Use your imagination … … to describe what’s happening in the following audio clip.
2
Doppler Effect uDu You’ve all heard the “Doppler Effect”. That’s when the pitch of a sound is higher when the source of the sound is coming towards you, and lower when it’s moving away. You are going to measure the frequency of an auto horn under two conditions: First while you are IN the car, and then when the car is coming TOWARDS you.
3
Doppler Effect uDu Use the following formula: Velocity of source moving towards you Frequency heard coming from moving source Actual frequency of source Speed of Sound (340 m/s)
4
Doppler Effect uDu INSIDE car: f actual = ___________ Hz OUTSIDE car: f heard = ___________ Hz c (speed of sound) = 343 m/s v car = ________ m/s PRESENTER’S NOTE: Quit presentation and play audio clips from within editing view (double-click on speaker icon) so Chromatic Tuner app can be viewed simultaneously.
