3
PURPOSE Perennial flooding over Metro Manila has been severely affecting millions, inspiring a need for an urban flooding alert system.
4
PURPOSE Where are the possible flooded areas? How deep is the expected flood? Is it passable by light vehicles?
5
URBAN FLOODING ALERT SYSTEM Awareness among the citizens is the first step in alleviating the destructive impact of flooding.
6
DESIGN CONCEPT Flood points were identified based on the inundation map generated by a LiDAR based flood simulation. Surface Flooding Map of Metro Manila Flood Simulation Metro Manila LiDar DEM Short Duration Rainfall Scenario
11
DESIGN CONCEPT These flood points were assigned to corresponding Automated Rain Gauges (ARGs) using the Thiessen Polygon Method. Flood points were identified based on the inundation map generated by LISFLOOD flood simulation.
13
DESIGN CONCEPT These flood points were assigned to corresponding Automated Rain Gauges (ARGs) using the Thiessen Polygon Method. An ARG is triggered when rain thresholds are reached. Flood points were identified based on the inundation map generated by LISFLOOD.
14
ARG is triggered when rain in ARG reaches 15mm/1hr Level 1 flood points are expected to experience gutter-deep flood. 30mm/1hr Level 1 flood points are expected to experience tire-deep flood or higher; Level 2 flood points are expected to experience gutter-deep flood.
