2  The Emporis Standards Committee defines a skyscraper as a multi-story building whose architectural height is at least or 330 ft  A high-rise building is defined as a multi-story structure between 12–39 floors.

3  Skyscrapers were able to climb in height due to the following building systems:  Steel structure  Elevators  Air Conditioning

4  Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH) sets the standards by which buildings are measured.  The council listed and ranked buildings in three categories:  height of structural or architectural top;  height of highest floor;  height to top of any part of the building.
