Introduction I have worked in the medical field for over 7 years. I have worked in different areas and have a good idea on how things work. Things are constantly changing but there are a few things that for the most part really stay the same. By knowing these things it will make it easier for everyone

What you can have ready for the doctor Know what resources are available and what tests that can be ran. Know what is going to be paid for, and what you have to pay for. Insurance Your medical records readily available Any other tests that have been done along with the results ready. What you should have

Plan it out If it is a new doctor Make sure they covered by your insurance Speak with the doctors office and verify with your insurance company who is a covered provider Make sure the doctors office has your correct information. What information is needed If it is a Specialist check to see if they need a referral. Have the MA send the referral and needed records and get a copy for your records Arrive at your appointment time about 15 mins early. Time is limited As an average the doctor has about 20 mins. each visit Know what you are going to talk with the doctor about If you are going in with multiple concerns maybe write them down most important first

Primary Care Physician Primary Doctors It is always good to have a primary care doctor that way someone else can help keep track of your health It takes time build a relationship and you have to be comfortable with who you see It is a Practice The doctor does not have all the answers they can make suggestions Ask questions and know what works for you

Conclusion No one likes going to the doctors. It is not an easy or fun process. By having it run more smoothly, makes it not only easier for you, but easier for the doctor as well. That way you can ensure that you get the best care possible.
