STDs can be prevented by avoiding sexual activity and by not injecting drugs. Some STI’s can be spread via non sexual ways A person who suspects that he or she is infected with an STD must see a doctor.

32. Syphilis is a bacterial STD that can affect many parts of the body. There are 4 stages of the disease Symptoms of syphilis vary as the disease progresses.

33. Syphilis Early symptoms may include only a painless sore at the site where the infection entered the body and swollen lymph glands in the genital area. It can be cured during the first 2 of 4 stages via antibiotics. In stage 3, it lies dormant for up to 7 years. In stage 4, organ failure and eventual death occur.
