Chunk 1 1.Read Chunk 1 aloud. 2.Read Chunk 1 again silently, underlining every noun in the chunk! (Think about your THESIS/CLAIM!) 3.Read Chunk 1 again silently, underlining every verb twice. ((Think about your THESIS/CLAIM!) 4.Check the chunk for important ADJECTIVES or ADVERBS. Circle these and point the arrows toward the words they modify, so you can better write your CLAIM/THESIS!) 5.Make notes for your THESIS/CLAIM on the paper!

Look at your List, and Check it twice! Using the words you have chosen, carefully create a snapshot of Chunk 1! A SnapShot is a paragraph of at least one sentence per paragraph in your text, telling exactly what that chunk is talking about to better explain your THESIS/CLAIM! (Look at the bulleted list!) If Chunk 1 requires more than six sentences, write them. Make sure you tell about everything in the Chunk that is IMPORTANT! SUMMARY=A retelling, in less words, what a story or piece of text is all about.
