Making Connections Good readers pay attention to things in the story that remind them of their own experiences or of knowledge that they already have. These connections can help you understand what you are reading. 18

Making Connections We are going to read the first two pictures and then see if any of you can make a connection with the story. Choral read pages 48 and 49. Who has a connection? 19

Visualizing Good readers often form mental images in their minds as they read as a way to picture what the writer is saying. This makes the story more enjoyable and also helps you put information from the story in order. 20

Asking Questions Good readers wonder as they read and ask themselves questions constantly about what they are reading. I often wonder about why certain characters behave as they do. 22

Asking Questions As we read, keep asking yourself questions and trying to find the answers. Let the class know by raising your hand when you have a question or an answer to somebody else’s question. 23
