Delivering your speech

Do not read your speech, you need to keep eye contact with the audience. You need to memorise it

Wait until you have their attention before you start to speak (ie: What Mr Flannery does)

Maintain a natural pace, avoid rushing through the speech

Pause when you make an important point

Make sure the listeners at the back can hear you

Speak clearly without mumbling

Keep a relaxed stance and use gestures where appropriate

Time your speech to ensure the length is right

Practise: watch and listen to yourself using a full length mirror

Remember to use visual clues

Practise: Read through the finished speech often to ensure a smooth delivery
