2 MISSION AND VISON OF THE CITADEL  To educate and develop our students to become principled leaders in all walks of life by instilling the core values of The Citadel in a disciplined and intellectually challenging environment.

3 OBJECTIVE  Lead the corps in standards for prevention and response of sexual misconduct and interpersonal violence  Set the tone as commanders  Be good representatives of the unit and institution here and beyond the gates  Respond to inappropriate behavior (Bystander Intervention)

5 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N9cWp1sBpnghttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N9cWp1sBpng (29 seconds to 2.02 minutes) Members of the Blue Angels team reported their commander, Captain Greg McWherter, for condoning a command a discriminatory climate by allowing:  Pornography to be placed in the cockpits of the team’s jets;  Male genitalia to be painted on the roof of a training trailer;  A sexually-charged team GroupMe account that included pornography; and  Hazing.  McWherter was relieved of his duties in April 2014 and found guilty at an admiral’s mast for “condoning crude practices on the F/A-18 flight team that led to a sexually hostile command climate.”  He was issued a letter of reprimand for “failing to stop obvious and repeated instances of sexual harassment, condoning widespread lewd practices within the squadron and engaging in inappropriate and unprofessional discussions with his junior officers.”  A 63-page investigative report included the following quote: “I believe he subsequently became susceptible to hubris and arrogance, blinding him to the common sense judgments expected of all service members, but especially those entrusted with command.”  McWherter retired from the Navy in June 2015. SAYS SHOW IS PERVERTED http://abc13.com/news/jared-fogle-child-pornography-whistblower-speaks/950641/ According to court documents, Fogle used Web sites to solicit commercial sex and traveled to engage in sexual acts with minors from 2007 until June 2015. Fogle also has admitted that he obtained child pornography of 12 children, male and female, as young as 6 years old. Fogle faces between 5 and 12½ years in prison and will have to register as a sex offender. Fogle will pay $1.4 million to 14 victims in restitution for counseling, support, treatment, or other assistance related to their victimization. He also faces a fine of up to $500,000. His wife, Katie, filed for divorce the day after he was charged. Subway has severed its relationship with Fogle.

11 WHEN CUSTOMER DEMANDED SERVERS ‘SHOW MORE SKIN,’ ONE RESTAURANT OWNER RESPONDED LIKE A BOSS BY BRYCE COVERT POSTED ON MAY 21, 2014 UrbanSpoon review : “show more skin” owner Daniel McCawley felt it went too far His response wasn’t to lash out at the reviewer, however. Instead, the restaurant is offering a potato skins special, selling them for $7 through Memorial Day, asking customers to “Come out and help Atomic show our skins! Potato skins, that is!” offering a potato skins specialshow our skins Profits from the special will be donated to the West Virginia Foundation for Rape Information Services. When asked about the decision to donate the money, McCawley said, “We’ve got to put our money where our mouth is.” He explained that the organization does a lot for women’s rights in West Virginia. “It seemed like a no-brainer there.”

12 CONCLUSION  Sexual and interpersonal violence are serious issues that impact The Citadel and greater community  Every cadet has the responsibility and the ability to prevent sexual violence by taking a stand  Seniors, as leaders, have the responsibility and ability to set the tone for the unit and institution  Your decision to do the right thing and intervene can stop someone from being sexually assaulted or harassed and will serve as an example for others  If you see something, say something
