Choosing a Method n The method of instruction must match as closely as possible the environment where the cadets will use their new skill, knowledge or attitude n Lecture Method n Demonstration-Performance Method n Other Methods

Lecture Method n Used to impart specific knowledge or attitude Advantages a. Large class size b. Large amount of information can be covered c. No elaborate equipment required d. Easy to prepare

Lecture Method n Used to impart specific knowledge or attitude Disadvantages a. Less opportunity for individual interaction b. Some students do not learn by listening only c. Complex information is not easily remembered

Lecture Method n A successful lecture includes: n Class interaction n Group discussion n Questions and Answer periods n Interesting visual aids n Handouts if required

Demonstration-Performance Method n Learn by doing and imitating Advantages a. Participation results in higher interest b. More opportunity for individual interaction c. Step-wise confirmation is achieved

Demonstration-Performance Method n Learn by doing and imitating Disadvantages a. Class size must be smaller b. Instructor requires more skill and confidence
