GOOD SHEEP FOLLOW THE SHEPHERD
3
Good sheep hear the voice of the Good Shepherd (John 10:16). “He who has ears, let him hear” (Matthew 11:15; 13:9; Revelation 2:7). Many ears do not want to hear what Jesus has revealed (John 6:60, 66).
4
Good sheep hear the voice of the Good Shepherd (John 10:16). There is only One Voice that is: The words of eternal life (John 6:68). The words of truth (John 1:17; 8:31-32). The words that will judge us (John 12:48). The words of the Father (John 14:24; Heb. 1:2). The words able to save your soul (James 1:21). The words of liberty (James 1:25).
5
Good sheep hear the voice of the Good Shepherd (John 10:16). “Elders of the church are instructed to give heed to God’s word of grace (Acts 20:32). Speak God’s oracles (1 Peter 4:11). Be able to teach, exhort and convict by sound doctrine (1 Timothy 3:2; Titus 1:9). When our shepherds encourage and reprove according to the gospel of Christ, are we really hearing them? Taking their spiritual words to heart?
6
Be submissive to those men who watch out for your souls (Heb. 13:17). Souls are entrusted to elders’ watchful care (1 Peter 5:3; Acts 20:28).
7
Be submissive to those men who watch out for your souls (Heb. 13:17). Sheep are commanded to place themselves willingly and humbly under the lead and guidance of shepherds. “Call to mind” those who rule over the brethren (Heb. 13:7). God’s word spoken. Follow exemplary faith. “Obey those who rule over you.” Like the Lamb of God. Accept and receive shepherds’ oversight.
