Additional Accommodations For students with an IEP, 504 Plan, or are in the ELL program, a PNP (Personal Needs Profile) has been developed based on learner needs. 12
13
How is PARCC Scored? Individual Score Reports ● Math Knowledge and Skills o Content, Expressing Reasoning, Modeling and Application, Growth ● ELA Knowledge and Skills o Reading and Writing, Growth ● Individual Item Analysis ● Score reports expected Fall 2015 13
14
PARCC District Information ● District Reports ● School Reports ● Performance Level Distributions ● Growth Percentiles 14

Scoring Two tests [March (PBA) and May (EOY), added together] Receive one total score report for Math and one score report for ELA. LevelDescriptor 5 Students demonstrate a distinguished command of the knowledge, skills, and practices embodied by the CCSS at their level. 4 Students demonstrate a strong command of the knowledge, skills, and practices embodied by the CCSS at their level. 3 Students demonstrate a moderate command of the knowledge, skills, and practices embodied by the CCSS at their level. 2 Students demonstrate a partial command of the knowledge, skills, and practices embodied by the CCSS at their level. 1 Students demonstrate a minimal command of the knowledge, skills, and practices embodied by the CCSS at their level. 15
16
Performance Based Assessment + End Of Year = Total Score English Language Arts Writing essays drawing evidence from multiple sources, including multi-media. Mathematics Solving multi-step problems that require reasoning and address real- word situations. English Language Arts Demonstration of comprehension of both literary and informational text. Mathematics Demonstration of understanding of concepts, fluency and application of knowledge. Performance Based Assessment (PBA) ~ March End Of Year (EOY) ~ May 16
17
How will PARCC results be used? ● To assist teachers in supporting students ● To inform parents and students on progress towards ‘on track’ college and career readiness ● To inform schools and districts on curricula, instructional and professional development needs 17
18
PARCC results will NOT be used... ● To impact student’s grades ● To retain students ● As measure for placement in programs 18
19
What has the School/District Been Doing to Prepare Students and Staff? ● Common Core State Standards across Hamilton curricula. ● Math and ELA Programs are aligned in all aspects to the CCSS. ● Keyboarding skills are formally taught and applied across the curricula. ● Students practice software tutorials with classroom teachers. ● Discipline-specific skills taught and applied across the curricula. ○i.e. equation editor in mathematics classes. ● Practice tests and sample questions fully utilized. ● Extensive website has been created to organize and communicate with staff and the community. ● Year-long student use of same technology resources. ● Ongoing Common Core and PARCC- focused professional development for teachers and administrators. 19
20
...and in the disciplines? ● Keyboarding in ELA, Technology, Study Skills, etc. ● Math o Focus on fluency (speed and accuracy) o Conceptual understanding o Application of math concepts ● ELA o Building Knowledge through Non-Fiction o Informational and Literary Text o Academic Language and Complex Text o Citing Text Evidence 20
21
What else are we doing to prepare our students? ● Reassuring students to limit test anxiety ● Helpful test strategies ● Practice time with: o Test Software Accessibility Features Accommodations (if applicable) o Sample Test Questions o Equation Editor 21
