How I plan to teach this lesson Day 1: Discuss what we will be learning and the projects we will be doing and the field trip that will hopefully take place. Day 2 : Go more in depth about the projects (travel brochures for new and old Fort Worth and a Timeline from the settling and establishment of Fort Worth to now). Discussion of the Alamo and the battle of the Alamo

How I plan to teach…cont. Day 3: Important people in historical Fort Worth. How the people who first settled in Texas lived. What they ate and how they traveled. Video: Day 4: Discuss important historical landmarks and why they were and are so important. Have students separate into small groups and begin working on their travel brochures

How I plan to teach…cont. Day 5: Discussion about important dates in Texas history. Continued work on travel brochures Day 6: Assign each student group a set of dates and then head off to the library for extra research. Using Google, EBSCO, and other educational research sites.

How I plan to teach…cont. Day 7: Another day of research in the library and have students begin working on their timeline. Day 8: Working on timeline in class Day9: Working on timeline in class Day 10: Field trip to the Historical Stockyards and Downtown Fort Worth.

How I will evaluate the effectiveness Challenge questions at the end of every lesson to each group and requiring them to get a certain number of points to have pizza on the field trip, instead of sack lunches. Grading the timeline and brochure to see how much information they learned and how they displayed what they learned.

How I will evaluate the effectiveness I will also give a small test at the end of the lesson, after the field trip to see what they have learned. Student participation will play a part in evaluating how comfortable they are with the information I will observe how comfortable they are with doing research online and in the library.
