3 Electron Transition Electrons require energy to move between levels e- in 1 st orbital is held closer to nucleus and has lower energy (ground state) e- in 5 th orbital is further from nucleus and has high energy (excited state) e- CAN MOVE between shells by absorbing or releasing energy, called e- transition
