3. Continued Gene: Narrator/Protagonist
Finny: Antagonist-Best Friends…Roommates
Convinces Gene to jump out of the tree
Finny is a fast talker-gets them out of trouble

Gene almost falls-Finny saves him. Doesn’t owe Finny anything…Finny talked him into it.

BLITZBALL!!!-Game by Finny…run with ball until someone knocks you over.
Breaks the swimming record-A Hopkins Parker. No one to know…Just wanted to break record for fun.
Gene and Finny go to the Beach. Ride bikes there….go swimming. Finny says “We’re best pals”…He cares…awww.

5. Chapters 4-5
Gene’s late coming back to school. He fails Trigonometry test. Finny trying to wreck/sabotage his grades!
Leper will jump from tree. Thinks Finny is jealous of Gene b/c he makes good grades.
FIGHT!!!-Studying
Finny says we’ll do a double jump!
Gene jounces/bounces the limb!!! Finny falls and there is a THUD!!!
Gene jumps: Confidence, Happiness, Peace

6. Continued Finny goes to infirmary
Finny asks Gene…They talk. Gene tries to confess…but Dr. Stanpole enters.
Finny goes home to Boston. Gene home for the summer (South).
Visits him in Boston and confesses!!! Finny reacts angrily…Hit him…kill him…leave.
Gene says he must have been CRAZY!!!

7. Chapters 6-7
Gene is at Devon “If you broke the rules, then they break you.”-about Finny.
Gene won’t play sports b/c Finny can’t play. So he goes out for assistant crew manager
FIGHTS Quackenbush
Long Distance call from…Finny. “If I can’t play sports you’ll play for me.”
Meets Brinker Hadley from across the hall. Brinker says Gene hurt Finny on purpose.

8. Continued
They go to the Butt room! There is a trial. Gene yells at a kid. He leaves before he smokes…b/c he is shaken by the interrogation.
Pick apples and shovel for the railroad.
Brinker talks about enlisting
NO Gene won’t b/c Finny needs him.
