Purpose To provide the best learning and working environments for children and teachers Vision 2016 Leading the Way in Quality Early Childhood Education Leading the Way in Growth and diversity COKA provides the environment to enable kindergartens to meet their families’ and communities’ needs. Progress 1.Attending Education for Maori Children seminar to hopefully source contacts. 2. All measures in place as planned. Board informed regularly of funding changes 3. Wakatipu & Terrace at planning stage. Leading the Way in the Provision of Top Quality Service COKA looks for continuous quality improvement. Leading the Way in Organisational Robustness COKA has effective and efficient business and governance practices. Goal 1Goal 2 Goal 3 Progress 1..Cromwell extension and renovations plans finalised, resource consent granted and funding application underway to CLT and OTC. 2. Board survey of families completed and analysed. 3. Awakoura applications called for closing on September 23 4. Monthly reports on roll numbers and waiting lists now part of Manager’s board report 6.New COKA brochure to emphasise kindergarten’s point of difference ready for publication. 13/09/11 Action 1.Review board and president continuity in November; 2. Access board governance training and expertise; 3. Board members attend kindergarten committee meetings to improve lines of communication; 4. Each kindergarten to have a display of current COKA board photos and structure. Action 1. Progress Cromwell kindergarten renovation and extensions- access CLT funding; 2. Complete Board survey of families and collate and report back on findings; 3. Assess possible 2012 Awakoura development grant applications and award grants according to necessity; 4. Monitor kindergarten rolls and waiting lists monthly; 5. Continue to ensure effective communication is maintained between all levels within the association; 6. Promotion of our Kindergartens to retain full rolls. Progress 1.Two board members to step down in March 2012. Teachers have been asked to look out for prospective board members. 2.Governance hui held Aug 13 Alexandra NZK Governance hui planned for 29-30 October 2011.COKA board members will be encouraged to attend. 3.Board member and manager will attend committee meeting in October or November. COKA corner in kindergarten newsletters. 4.COKA display completed and sent out to all kindergartens for display. Action 1. Recruit Maori Resource teacher; 2.Continue to implement measures put in place to offset Government bulk funding cuts; 3. Plan for each kindergarten to have a whanau room; 4.Consider offering community services for families such as ”healthy eating options” “cooking on a budget” etc. Central Otago Kindergarten Association Annual Plan 2011-2012 2011-2012 Goal 4 Leading the Way in Community & Collaborative Relationships COKA initiates and develops relationships that are beneficial to the purpose and the vision. Action 1. Support Maniototo kindergarten establishment committee and continue planning to build kindergarten; 2. Teachers and management open to other kindergarten operating models; 3. Be aware of new kindergarten development opportunities. Progress 1. Maniototo kindergarten project progressing. Building contract almost signed off 2. Wakatipu kindergarten has reviewed hours and session times after full consultation with families. Terrace and Cromwell considering other models of organisation. 3. Exploring Frankton new kindergarten opportunities.
