Materials 1 Reaction Time Monitor (unit used is millisecond – ms) 4 females 4 males

Procedures 1. Find your partner to test 2. Make sure the person being tested has arm extended at eye level 3. Place reaction time monitor between partner’s fingers at the start mark (be sure fingers are 8 cm apart and numbers facing out) 4. Drop the reaction time monitor – partner must catch it in their fingers 5. Check and record scores 6. Repeat the test - switching tester and person being tested 7. Repeat steps #1-6 with 3 other girls and 4 boys (or vice versa) 8. Calculate the mean (average) results for each boy and each girl you tested 9. Calculate the averages for all the boys’ averages and all the girls’ averages

Variables/Constants Constants: same age, strip dropped from eye level, strip dropped randomly, 8 cm for catching strip with pinching fingers, same side of strip facing catcher, 4 boys/girls Independent Variable: gender Dependent Variable: reaction time in ms Control Group: none
