1 Class Agenda 3/20/15 1. ACT Presentations (20 minutes) 2. Summary and Quote Card Activity (15 minutes) 3. Themes/Scenarios of Macbeth (30 minutes) 4. Exit ticket with opening of Macbeth on video CLO: Today you will, orally and in writing, determine two or more central ideas/themes of a text and analyze their development through dramatic skits in literature circle groups, a video that will facilitate visual understanding, and phrases such as: Lady Macbeth lets power corrupt her sense of justice by… Macbeth responds to the prophecy of the witches by… I predict Macbeth will/will not let fate decide his future because…

2 Summary and Quote Card Activity Nothing is Macbeth is light-hearted; most characters are known for milling (pacing) and seething (speaking emotionally). You will practice this! You just received a note card with a line from the play on it. Practice saying it to yourself. Next, get up and practice saying this while milling and seething. You may say it to other students OR to yourself. Last, I will read a summary of the play, and you will read along with me. When I get to your number and pause, that is your cue to dramatically say your line. Make it your best!

3 Themes and Scenarios from Macbeth You will receive a scenario in your literature circle group folder (same groups as before). Create a short skit around the scenario. It must be under two minutes. Either I or a group member will read the scenario before the skit. You have 10 minutes to create a skit. Now, let’s perform the skits! These are three themes or storylines in the play. This is to help you understand them and how they apply to your world now.

4 Video and Exit Ticket You are going to watch the first 10 minutes of Macbeth on video. On the paper provided, you will answer the following exit ticket: Movie time 7:31 – 22:45 1. How does Lady Macbeth let power corrupt her sense of justice? 2. How does Macbeth respond to the prophecies of the witches? 3. How do you think Macbeth lets fate decide his future?
