Life and Writings of Charles Dickens
The Victorian Era and the Industrial Revolution in England had a great influence on Charles Dickens. He lived and wrote about the great changes in society, and not all of them good. So, to understand the special social messages behind A Christmas Carol, you must understand the time period. After completing the Web Quest, you will create either 1.) an acrostic or Timeline of Charles Dickens life 2.) a mini-booklet. If you are working alone, you only need to complete one of he three.

Upon establishing and completing your background information, use your notes and acquired knowledge, to create an acrostic poem and make a statement about what they have learned. EXAMPLE: D – During his lifetime, Charles Dickens I – initiated a movement to help poor C – children by supporting public education, K – keeping the cost of books like A Christmas Carol low so that E – every person could afford to read them, and demonstrating through his N – novels the necessity for S – social reform for the working class poor in England and America.

Create a booklet about Charles Dickens
Make a 6 page booklet that tells about the events in his life that you feel strongly influenced his writing. Get instructions for making the booklet from the shelf At the back of room. All other materials are there too. The life of Charles Dickens
