WATER AND EARTH Three-quarters of the Earth's surface is covered with water, yet 98% is salt water and not fit for consumption. Less than 1% of all the water on Earth is freshwater available for human consumption.

In Louisburgh our water supply comes from the Bunowen River. The water comes from upstream and is treated before it reaches our taps. Our waste water goes into the Bunowen River downstream after going through the waste water treatment plant.
