A few important points… ▪ GT takes place in the English class – English is the most inclusive of the subjects ▪ We discuss history/social studies and science in relation to our literature – English is the greatest subject of all ▪ Okay, I’m biased ▪ In other classes (pre-AP/IB and AP or IB), aspects of GT do present themselves.

What my class is like… ▪ Lots of class-wide discussion – We discuss literature ▪ Our interpretations ▪ The ramifications in relation to today’s society ▪ Why we think certain things happen – We discuss social issues ▪ Social issues past/present/future ▪ What we think should have been done / should be done

4. What my class is like ▪ Lots of reading – Our reading is wide ▪ Classic and Modern ▪ Fiction, Biography, Poetry, Expository, etc. – Our reading is deep ▪ We look for meaning ▪ We look for connections

5. Some of the things we do ▪ Classical Roots – Greek and Latin roots – Help with dissecting unknown words to establish meaning ▪ Novel and Allusion Sheets – Help to encourage a deeper reading of all books – Help to summarize and retain key points

6. Some of the things we do ▪ Individual and Group Projects – Looking to synthesize Ideas – Looking for creativity and “out-of-the-box” thinking – Looking for great time management – Looking for the ability to work well with others
