4. Can you tell me the time? Could you tell me the time? What time is it? Rule: To change a statement into a question, reverse the order of subject and verb. Note: the literal answer to a “can” question is “yes” or “no”, but idiomatically we use it to request things politely.

5. What does ‘periphrastic’ mean? Rule: for what, how, when, why, where, how much and who questions, use a helping verb (does, have, are, etc.) and change the main verb into its root form (mean, not means).
