Diagnosing ADHD A few changes recently: Symptoms occur by age 12. Several symptoms present in more than one setting (school, work, home, with friends/relatives, in other activities) At least 5 symptoms in either category (Inattention or Hyperactivity-Impulsivity) Other disorders need to be ruled out.
