Objective The student is introduced to The definition and properties of fluid. Principles of fluid statics, kinematics and dynamics are dealt with subsequently. The application of similitude and model study is covered subsequently. Fluid properties and application to real situations of fluid flow.

Introduction Fluid Mechanics is concerned with the behavior of fluids at rest and in motion Field of Fluid Mechanics can be divided into 3 branches: Fluid Statics: mechanics of fluids at rest Kinematics: deals with velocities and streamlines w/o considering forces or energy Fluid Dynamics: deals with the relations between velocities and accelerations and forces exerted by or upon fluids in motion
