DensityDensity
2
Density: The mass per unit volume of a material. g/mL Density describes how tightly packed a substances molecules are.
3
Density formula: D=M/V D= Density M= Mass (g) V= Volume (mL)
4
To find mass: Use a digital scale (Grams) To find volume: Use water displacement (mL)
5
Water Displacement Process If you have an object high in mass but displaces little water, then the object will sink in water. Example = Penny
6
Water Displacement Process If you have an object low in mass but displaces a lot of water, then the object will float in water. Example = Marshmallow
7
4 Fun Facts 1. Water has the density of 1.0
8
4 Fun Facts 2. All matter has a density greater than zero.
9
4 Fun Facts 3. If an object has a density < 1.0 then the object will float.
10
4 Fun Facts 4. If an object has a density > 1.0 then the object will sink.
11
Good to Know If an object has the density of very close to 1.0 such as 1.000005, then the object will suspend in water.
12
Density Examples Sugar 1.6 Salt 2.2 Gold 19.3 Marshmallow 0.2 Oil 0.09 Cork 0.24 Penny 8.9

That was amazing!
