Fee Waivers If student is eligible, fee waivers are available for both SAT and ACT. Eligibility form can be picked up in Student Services. If waiver is used for SAT during Senior year, student also qualifies for up to 4 college application fee waivers as well.

Wake Tech (Pg 3, 6) Earn an Associates Degree or Certificate or enter into their College Transfer Program Accuplacer Test-Everyone must take for placement into classes. Certain ACT/SAT scores may waive the test; see counselor or contact Wake Tech for more details. Remember to apply early to secure a spot!

Senior Conferences Please don’t forget to sign up in Student Services for a Senior Conference! They will run from September 15 th — October 3 rd. Check your high school graduation credits and transcript Time to answer college questions

Transcript requests (Pg 4) Please refer to page 4 of your Senior packet on how to request transcripts for in-state and out-of-state colleges and universities. You (not your counselor) are responsible for sending your transcript electronically. Please don’t wait until the application deadline to submit your request! Some colleges may require students to upload a copy of their transcript.

General Tips for College Admission Check academic requirements for admission Minimum GPA? Required courses? (fine arts, etc.) Make sure the STUDENT completes the application (not the parent) Determine if additional materials are needed (teacher recommendation form, counselor form, etc.)

When To Apply Check college admissions deadlines Some colleges may give preference to early applicants; check with your colleges of interest Many colleges will consider students for certain merit scholarships if they apply by the first or second deadline Receiving a decision before March is ideal for most students

Admissions Terminology Early Decision: usually binding (you must attend the college if you are admitted) Early Admission: allows you to receive a decision more quickly Rolling Admission: the college accepts applications throughout the year Deferral: the college needs more information (first semester grades, test scores, etc.) before an admissions decision can be made Wait List: the student will be admitted IF there is room remaining in the freshman class Denial
