2. Rationale : Why Web 2.0 in the classroom? Students can  learn from their teachers and their peers.  become active participants in their own learning.  gain skills for 21 st century careers. Teachers can  engage students more effectively.  satisfy both content standards and AASL standards.  help students improve communication skills on the web.

4. Some tips before you begin  If possible, maintain regular practice of new tool.  Consider the audience, especially when dealing with blogs.  Teach appropriate behavior and then enforce it.

Video, Images and Editing “Visual literacy has been identified as an essential literacy by the Partnership for 21st Century Skills; and with the development of the tools and contributory capacity of Web 2.0, it is critical that schools focus on helping students acquire the skills necessary to navigate, evaluate, and to communicate with visual information” (Jakes, 2007, p. 21).

9. Activity On the desktop, there are screencasts for PbWorks, EDUblogs, Glogster, Animoto and picnik. I created these in Jing, so it will give you an opportunity to see this Web 2.0 tool as well. After listening to the screencasts you are interested in, feel free to make an account and begin trying out the new tool.
