oneone SK-15A Objective: To complete an investigation in order to find out how the height of an inclined plane affects the amount of work completed. Core Question: How do inclined planes affect work? Drill: 1.Get an Activity Sheet and a Lab Sheet from the SET. 2. On your Activity Sheet, complete Activity 1, 1-3.
2
oneone SK-15A An investigation always begins with a problem question. The question contains the independent variable, followed by the dependent variable.
3
oneone SK-15A Identify the independent variable and the dependent variable in the investigation. Independent Variable: height of the inclined plane Dependent Variable: amount of work completed
4
oneone SK-15A After determining the problem question to be solved, you must write a hypothesis. The hypothesis is a statement that proposes an answer the problem question. A properly structured hypothesis is written as an “If…, then…, because… statement”. A hypothesis must include the variables stated in the problem question.
5
oneone SK-15A Hypothesis: If the height of the inclined plane is (increased/decreased), Then the amount of work completed will (increase/decrease/remain constant) because ______________________.
6
oneone SK-15A Activity 2: Investigation Read the procedures “Height of an Inclined Plane and Work Completed”. Reread the procedures and think about any questions that you still have. Complete the investigation.
7
oneone SK-15A Homework 1. Review the lab data. 2. Complete the Analysis.
