2 2.Select the track you want to give a timbre to. 3.Make sure this says HALion 4.Click here and search for an instrument that sounds closest to the original 1.You must select the correct timbre for the different tracks you have created. Timbre Open Cubase and open your work from last lesson - It should be on the ‘Recent’ tab.

3 Timbre AT THE END OF THE LESSON 1. Save your work (first save will need you and your partner’s name for a file name). 2. Complete your self assessment. 3. Follow the instructions on the yellow sticker on your computer. EXTENTION If you finish all this, ask me for the extension work to achieve above expectations.

5 Tempo 1.Click on the TEMPO button so that TRACK changes to FIXED 2.Change the tempo to ‘122’.

6 1.Go to the MGMT post on stanboroughmusic.com using Chrome 2.Right click on ‘MGMT lead vocal’ 3.Click ‘Save link as’. 4.Save the file in YOUR folder (which you created in week 1, with your names!) 5.Click and DRAG the file from the bottom of Chrome into Cubase. 6.Click ‘Copy file to working Directory’ 7.Move the clip to the correct place in the song. 8.Repeat 2-7 for Vocal Harmony and Vocal harmony end Vocals

8 Open Cubase and open your work from last lesson - It should be on the ‘Recent’ tab. 1.You can add effects to the song to make it sound more realistic. 2.Use the internet to research these effects to find out what each of them does. 9 Dynamics 1.Press the letter R to glow green. 2.Press the down arrow under the little piano diagram. 3. Click a point on the coloured line. Up is louder and down is softer You will be marked on your use of dynamics. they should be appropriate and well balanced. NO CRAZINESS.

11 Panning 1.Press the letter R to glow green. 2.Press the down arrow under the little piano diagram. 3.Click the word volume and change it to panner. 4.Click a point on the coloured line. Up is the left speaker and down is the right speaker. You will be marked on your use of PANNING. It should be appropriate and well balanced. NO CRAZINESS.

12 Reverb 1.Click on the letter E 2.Select Reverb 3. Click here 4. Choose from a list of reverberation settings

13 Delay 1.Click on the letter E 2.Select Delay 3. Click here 4. Choose from a list of delay settings

14 EQ 1.Click on the letter E 2.Pushing a point down compresses it. Pushing a point up boosts it. BassMidHigh Note: The higher or lower you push the EQ, the more extreme it will sound. Effective EQ is much more subtle.
