Secretaries make appointments, put files in order, write letters, schedule meetings, and make travel plans.

Secretaries need to be on using a computer, type fast, and use a variety of computer programs. They also need a high school diploma for a full-time job. When they have a job, secretaries often need to take 1 to 2 year courses to practice their skills. To advance their skills and abilities, they also take some optional online education.

Secretaries need to have good grammar, punctuation, vocabulary, and be well-spoken. They also need to have the ability to operate different kinds of office equipment. They will also need to get along with others, and be well organized. They will also need to have good customer service and interpersonal skills because they must be tactful in the dealings with people.

The salary of a secretary is usually varied, depending on a person’s skill, experience, and level of responsibility.

Secretary jobs are one of the largest job categories in the United States and were located in many industries, from education and health to government and retail trade. The expected employment of secretaries for 2018 is over 9,639,400. The employment difference between 2008 and 2018 will be 74% of people being added to the population.
