5 What is risk based visiting? Risks:  Sites, themes, specialties and agenda items selected on basis of risks  Common issues for all visits Good practice:  ‘Exceptional examples’ or new approaches to problems  Evaluation, evidence, dissemination

6 Why regional visiting?  Five year regional visiting plan  All levels of education  Working together and managing transitions  Common issues and challenges  Sharing good practice and driving improvement

8 What do regional visits focus on?  Risks identified at action planning – sites, specialties and themes.  Quality management processes – identifying and managing concerns and sharing good practice.  Regional challenges and joint working. To do this we will meet with..  …students, doctors in training, teachers, trainers, support staff, QM staff and management.

9 Thematic visiting  Agile and flexible  Focussed on local education providers e.g. site visits  Recent checks to Emergency Medicine, Clinical Academic Training, Small Specialty Reviews, upcoming undermining & bullying checks  Reporting varies according to theme and size of visits  Approach to monitoring varies, but will normally be through quality managers
