Shrink Boot Appliacations What are they used for? Strain relief for wiring exiting a backshell or connector. Sealing cables to backshells or connectors for both water as well as chemical exposure. Organizing wiring to specific dimensions such as 90° angles or other shape. Cable breakouts where one cable branches out to 2, 3, or 4 separate cables. Resealing field repaired cable or conduit connector assemblies.

Shrink Boot Installation: Grab Your Gun and Your Boots! Ordinary heat gun is best tool for the job The part should be seated (heated) at the connector end first and recovered back to the cable. Not difficult to perform but training is needed. Adhesive parts must be heated longer to activate the adhesive. Heat guns at high temperature can scorch the outside of the part…so proper use of the tool is important.
