SESAR deployment is essential for the implementation of the SES "SES cannot be achieved without the harmonised and synchronised deployment of SESAR" (Madrid conference, 2010) "Europe needs to commit for a swift implementation of the SES also by pooling resources to support a synchronised deployment, highlighting the contribution of new technologies and improved procedures to boost competitiveness of the European aviation industry and the sustainability and safety of aviation" (Bruges conference, 2010) " It is necessary to establish governance and incentive mechanisms to facilitate SESAR deployment calling upon stakeholders to play an active role in deployment" (The Budapest Charter, 2011) "There is a need for a synchronised deployment embracing pan-European and local needs" (Warsaw conference, 2011) Session 3

3. We have committed to create the appropriate conditions to deploy SESAR, but it’s not for the Commission to deploy! Setting up SESAR deployment is a challenging task we’ve been taking forward, with stakeholders, a step at time consolidating our approach before moving on We aim to provide industry with the means to organise and launch SESAR deployment activating the appropriate SES tools Take the opportunity to use them and develop their potential! Session 3

The main SESAR deployment instruments “ATM Master plan”, “Common projects” & “SESAR deployment governance” We have a clear idea on the governance structure and on the common projects Guidance material will define a binding framework for organising SESAR deployment Their adoption is expected by June 2013 and will kick-off the SESAR deployment setup sequence Session 3
