The distance from a point to a line is the length of the perpendicular segment from the point to the line.

Note the difference… An angle bisector contains all the points equidistant from 2 LINES. A perpendicular bisector contains all of the points equidistant from 2 POINTS.

Example 3: Writing equations of bisectors Write the equation in point slope form for the perpendicular bisector of the segment with the endpoints A(-1, 6) and B(3, 4). Then write your equation in standard form.
