15
ALICE TPC gas system status, JCOP15 18.6.2003 S.Haider EP/TA1 What did we learn so far? (1/3) Development Gas racks and software can be prepared in parallel Simplified HW drawings were necessary for user panels SW was tested in the lab without the gas HW ready Process control Validation of UR states, alarms, commands, etc Validation of PLC code design Validation of the UNICOS concept for gas control UNICOS not easy to start with!
16
ALICE TPC gas system status, JCOP16 18.6.2003 S.Haider EP/TA1 What did we learn so far? (2/3) PVSS UNICOS Beta version,- but most of functionality available (~80%) Validation of window layers, navigation menus etc… Long way to go for trending !!! Operation Common look and feel of all Process Control Objects (PCO) Access of objects in Auto/Manual mode Recipes for constants, alarms and parameters FSM based operation
17
ALICE TPC gas system status, JCOP17 18.6.2003 S.Haider EP/TA1 What did we learn so far? (3/3) Commissioning After short introduction we were able to operate and fine tune process parameters without the help of the developers Easily understandable menu structures and concepts of operation FAST! Took only about 1 week!

ALICE TPC gas system status, JCOP18 18.6.2003 S.Haider EP/TA1 Future plans Alice TPC Remaining Racks System integration In 167 with dummy volume Validation of interaction UR identification for top module UNICOS Porting to UNICOS PVSS release (before system integration)
19
ALICE TPC gas system status, JCOP19 18.6.2003 S.Haider EP/TA1 GCS framework Once developed, ALICE TPC will be ported to this gas framework Rem: Some gas framework components are already used Low level objects in PLC and PVSS Synoptic of PVSS Recipes…
20
ALICE TPC gas system status, JCOP20 18.6.2003 S.Haider EP/TA1 Conclusion The first “Vertical Gas Slice” with final architecture was successfully implemented and tested. (Visits welcome) We validated: URD, UNICOS for gas, PLC code generation, PVSS, operation issues, PID regulation etc.. Started development of Gas Frame Work with the experience gained
