PDC Update PDC has been supporting district wide initiatives Each building level representative(s) should be working with their principals in regards to approval Many districts are limiting sending teachers to conferences because there is no research behind the effectiveness of these conferences and the impact it has on student learning Many districts are focusing majority of their 1% budget to bring the learning inside their district so the staff all hear the same information Questions in regards to the building level budget have been brought to the committee

Why vertical teaming Develop added respect for what the other grade level does to facilitate learning which results in better collegiality Learn where students should end the year in the grade level below their grade level, which results in better curriculum alignment Learn where students should be at the start of a grade level above their grade level which results in better curriculum alignment Increase in teacher collaboration which results in teams that operate more effectively and efficiently Discuss outcomes of classroom/grade level common formative assessments to inform grade level instruction and determine the growth made at each grade level Increase the districts instructional capacity for student learning, resulting in district wide growth
12
Vertical Teaming Please remember our critical friends conversations we had last month This is for the welfare of our students not the convenience of the adults Everything you say or bring up today, can you end it with “To benefit student learning?” Remember this is a “We—not me…” conversation I will try to make it around to all work rooms today Keep a list of running questions Diane will need a report back from each vertical team—directions on the agendas
