IMMUNE SYSTEM By: Asia Williams & Trevonta Gibbens

I. The Immune System includes structures like, white blood cells, thymus, spleen, lymph nodes, and lymph vessels.

A. WHITE BLOOD CELLS 1. Leukocytes(WBC’s) 2. Thrombocytes(platelets) 3.Granulocytes(containing large granules in the cytoplasm) 4. A Granulocytes(without granules) 5. Lymphocytes(consisting of B cells and basophils)and monocytes.

B. THYMUS 1. The Thymus is a specialized organ of the Immune System.

C. SPLEEN 1. The spleen functions as part of the Immune System and contributes to the production and storage of the Circulatory System.

D. LYMPH NODES 1. Lymph nodes work like filters to remove germs that could get you sick.

E. LYMPH VESSELS 1. Lymph vessels transport fatty acids and glycerol as well as excess tissue fluids.

II. How specifically does the immune system work? 1.The Immune System defends the body from attack by invaders recurring.

III. What is relationship of the Immune System and other body systems? 1.With circulatory system allows the immune cells to travel throughout the body and survey for infection.

IV. What medical problems that can be associated with the body system? 1. Allergies, Asthma, Cancer, Diabetes, Heart Murmurs and etc.
