3. Objective Lens: Lens that receives the first rays of light from the light source. 3 magnifications:

4. Fine vs. Course Focus  Course focus- for focusing on low power objective. o ONLY USE ON LOW POWER!!!  Fine focus- for use on high power objective

5. Using the Microscope Place slide so center of slide is directly over the light source. Always start on lower power Use course adj. knob to get specimen in focus. Switch to high power objective. Use fine adj. knob to get specimen in focus.

6. Preparing a Wet Mount Slide – Get this slice of specimen and place on center of slide. – Put one drop of water over specimen. – Place coverslip at 45 degree angle and drop on slide.
