Variables Independent variable- I have changed the soils. Dependent variable- I hope the amount of worms that go in the soil will differ. Controlled variables- Amount of water Size of jar Amount of sunlight Amount of time each trial gets

Procedures Set up! Lay newspapers on the experiment area. Put the soil in the three glass jars which the worms will be in during the experiment. Put 5 worms in each jar. Set the timer to 10minutes. Get Ready to start the experiment.
6
Procedures-Continued Experiment procedures Start the timer. Observe how many worms go into the soil. Record how many worms go in the soil. Repeat 3 times (trials) Record the data.

Conclusion My prediction was correct. I thought the worms would prefer yard soil since there use to it and it has bits of rocks, leaves, and nutrients that potting soil and sand don’t have also yard soil is where usually you'll find earthworms. In my experiment I faced many difficulties because I had to have the worms go in the soil with in 5 minutes but that wouldn’t occur so I had change the time to 10minutes since it toke so long! But then it worked out fine. If I had to change anything in my experiment I would make sure the worms were the same size and change the number of worms I used and the minutes I used in each trial.

Research Worms: There are about 2,700 different kinds of earthworms. Worms are cold-blooded. Worms don’t have eyes but can sense light, especially at their front end. They move away from light or else they will become paralyzed if exposed to light for about {1 hour}.They usually live where there is food, oxygen, moisture and a favorable temperature. If they don’t have these things they go somewhere else. Worms tunnel deeply into the soil and bring subsoil closer to the surface and mixing it with top soil. The longest earthworm to be found was in South Africa and was measured to be 22ft long.
