Writing Traits Word Choice (Writing Models Chart p. 2) - The writer uses descriptive and exact words that help the reader to see, feel, and understand the message. It rained. The rain fell in sheets and flooded the field. Example 1 On the day of the race, the sun was shining brightly and blazing high in the sky. As I began the long race, I adjusted my baseball cap to keep the sun out of my eyes and took a sip from my water bottle. Example 2 I ran in a race. It was a long race. It was hot.
