It would be much better to be closer to under 10% of high school students. This problem is a lack of participation in after school activities such as sports or clubs. Late Adolescence ages 15-18 will participate in after school sports/recreation league, a program that will improve their physical fitness, nutrition, and sleep habits, and avoid alcohol, tobacco and drug use. The outputs will be a monthly survey of how many Late Adolescence ages 15-18 consume drugs and alcohol. More students will show a commitment to school and sports and not engage in drugs and alcohol consumption. The percent of alcohol consumption, and drug use behaviors (30 day frequency) will be lower for those participating in the program as compared to those not participating. The community problem of High school adolescents engaging in alcohol and drug use rather than healthy activities like sports will decline from the current amount of 40% of high school students closer to the desired lower level of Under 10% of high school students.

7  The survey will be based on yes or no answers. They will take an initial survey and then one every month after joining the program to gage improvement.

8  Richard Millstein, acting director of NIDA found that illicit drug use is consistently up for those in 8 th, 10 th, and 12 th graders.  W. Mass (1998) reports that teen drug use has grown 105 percent since 1992. Most teens experiment with drugs to escape stress.  Peter Flom (2001) in his study found that people who consumed drugs at an early age continued to consume drugs in adulthood.  Mireille Jacobson (2004) reports that alcohol consumption and marijuana use are the two major drugs that have had dramatic increases over the past two decades.
