2 How to restart the energy once surrounding technology integration into the curriculum. Setting up strategies to join together and form our own network.

3 One person can make a change, but a group can move mountains.

4 Where we started? In the beginning most of the staff was cooperative and excited about being a part of the 1:1 initiative.

5 95% use their teacher devices. 10% are advanced users.. 40% are intermediate users. 45% are beginner-intermediate users. 35% use it in their classroom effectively. 60% use technology in their classroom. 60 % of our paraprofessionals are beginner to intermediate users. Standardized Students K-8 have a laptop 2 Autistic Classes will have ipads within 2 weeks All 90% of classrooms have smartboards/projectors. Our Statistics

6 What happened during the program? Teachers became uninterested. Leadership offered very little support. Minimal theft issues Little accountability for teachers to use technology. Some teachers embraced the program. Students were excited. ++We saw an increase in our ELA scores the first two years.

7 What my school experienced. New Leadership Loss of Depot Manager full time. One person supporting over 100 educators/paras. No funding to support Mouse squad Retirement of key staff Time constraints for training School Culture Limited accountability

8 What we have learned. The leaders of the school must have a vision for their school. Instruction Leaders must use technology Build a Team/ commitment Support Grantwriting Committee

9 Teacher Support and Investment Planning-What else did we learn during the initiative. Views on the added value from educators in your building. Computer costs over time. Addressing teachers fears. Distributed Leadership. Seeking outside sources for funding. Center for Digital Education

10 Most important- for The Students do we provide : Engaging Curriculum Optimal performing equipment Student input/feedback Continued support

11 Helping the educators to move away from lecture style and being in control to being more of a facilitator. To help the students become better learners,give support and guide them in the them through the learning experience.

12 Fostering global competencies for our youth: flexibility willingness to contribute to innovation inclined to acquire social sensitivity and communication skills; to be able to work in teams; be prepared for internalization of the labour market an understanding of various cultures and; be versatile in generic skills.

13 Upkeep of technology is key. Devices upgraded Keep equipment clean

14 Monitoring of use. Is the technology used during instructions Are teachers/students following protocol. Appropriate sites used.

17 Ways we are moving forward? devise innovative curriculum to prepare children and youngsters to live and work in gender equal society. involve parents while designing school curriculum. create, pilot test and implement innovative methods of assessment/ evaluation emphasize self-learning and learning by doing collaborate and network among institutions for resource sharing promote open education environment;

18 We have two other depot managers to support technology at our offsites. Part-time. We have a technology teacher. We have a volunteer to start a student group. Two of our key interventions are tied to technology-Achieve3000/Study Island The important formative and summative assessments are all technology based. Scantron, Acuity, Impact Math, Brigance…. IEP’s and E-Report Cards and Stars Which supports that all teachers/paras much use technology.
