APRALO Objectives To provide a forum and promote and encourage Asia/Pacific Internet users’ participation and involvement in ICANN in an open, accountable and transparent manner To promote, understand and advocate for individual Internet users and to provide a forum for outreach, co-ordination and exchange of information and knowledge for persons who live in the Asia Pacific region To act as an interface between individual Internet users and ICANN and to promote skills development and information exchange related to the Internet amongst Members To bridge the digital divide and encourage users in developing countries to participate in APRALO To select two individuals as representatives of the Members of APRALO to ALAC ALAC: "to consider and provide advice on the activities of ICANN, insofar as they relate to the interests of individual Internet users”, Article XI, Section 2, 4(a) of ICANN Bylaws ALAC

Possible ALS groups Essentially any group that represents individual Internet User interests e.g. Consumer groups, ISOC Chapters, Community groups, Professional Associations and Societies, etc. Free to join but your organisation must fulfill ICANN established criteria and standards for the accreditation of ALS' Application form and further details: http://www.apralo.org ALAC

Why Become an ALS? A recognized role in forming the policies that affect how individuals' use the Internet (ICANN is listening. Make sure your voice is heard!); Quick and easy access to first-hand information on what's happening in ICANN and why it matters to end-users; Opportunities to provide your members education on ICANN's work and Internet developments; Participation in building your region's At-Large organization (RALO), and opportunities to network with other groups in your country and region as At-Large grows; ALAC

How we operate Two Physical Meetings per year - one at ICANN Asia-Pacific Meeting - one at regional Asia-Pacific meeting e.g. APRICOT, APNIC, APNG, Other... Teleconferences - 4th Tuesday of every month - used for reports from ALAC reps and to provide input for use by ALAC reps Online Collaboration - Wiki (SocialText) - Mailing Lists - IM Decision Making - by consensus - by vote if no consensus ALAC
