4. 10.244 farms in 2008 of which 10.188 family farms; 65% men were the head of the farm; Age of the manager of the farm, was between 45-54 years; Most farmers have lots of less than 0.5 ha and up to 2 ha; GENERAL PROFILE OF AGRICULTURE PRODUCERS

5. Only 14% of the farms use hired labor; Most farmers only have primary education or less; Most farmers in the coastal area are part time farmers; Almost 50% of the female farmers can be found in the interior; Only 3% of the farmers < 25 years.

7. 1978 ->190 cooperatives identified in Suriname; 2010 revitalization of cooperatives throughout Suriname took place; Through the Department of Cooperative of MAAHF 31 cooperatives are registered and active; Status of Agriculture Cooperatives of Organization of Family Farmers
