Answers WHOM or WHAT about the verb
Nouns frequently used as direct objects
Example: Lloyd and Christian played soccer in the backyard with a grapefruit pulled from a tree.
Subject: Lloyd and Christian
Verb: played
Direct Object: soccer

4. What are indirect objects?
Tells to whom or to what or for what
Used only with a direct object
Appears between the verb and the direct object
Usually found with verbs of giving or communicating like give, bring, tell, show, take, or offer
Example: Jackie wrote Kelly a note during class.
Subject: Jackie
Verb: wrote
Direct Object: a note (wrote WHAT?)
Indirect Object: Kelly (for WHOM?)
