2. Do you believe in magic? Well I definitely believe in science! Milk of magnesia is a an antacid known as magnesium hydroxide or Mg(OH)2, Antacids neutralize acids on contact. Too much hydrochloric acid (HCl) in the stomach can lead to heartburn. Milk of magnesia enters the stomach, where the hydroxide ions (OH) in milk of magnesia combine with the hydrogen ions in HCl to calm overactivity in the stomach. It also works to neutralize vinegar since it is an acid as well.

3. Do you believe in magic? Well I definitely believe in science! Universal indicator turns red when it contacts acids, and purple when it contacts a base. Mom is a base and vinegar is Acetic Acid. Write in your journal why you think the MOM solution changed colors several times.

4. The lab conclusion! Write a sentence explaining how the new substance is different from the original substances.

5. Look at your I wonder chart, it should have at least 2 I wonders. Here are a few of mine. You might include something like using a different kind of antacid. Maybe you would like to know what happens if you use more vinegar. You should never ever mix any kind of household chemicals. Some them produce poison gases. It is very dangerous!

6. Snow The clear solution is Epsom salt (magnesium sulfate MgSO4) dissolved in water. The yellow liquid is household ammonia (NH4OH). They react to form Magnesium Hydroxide Mg(OH)2

8. Look at your I wonder chart, it should have at least 2 I wonders. Here are a few of mine. You might include something like changing the temperature. Perhaps you want to change the ammonia to a different cleaner. Maybe you would like to know what happens if you use more ammonia.
