GEOGRAPHY OF MASSACHUSETTS My state is located in Northeast US. The highest point is Mt. Greylock It’s elevation is 3,491 feet. It is bordered by the following states: – Connecticut, – New Hampshire, – New York, – Rhode Island, and – Vermont

CAPITAL AND 3 CITIES The capital of Massachusetts is Boston. Boston is located in the East part of the state. Massachusetts has a population of 6,349,097. Three cities in Massachusetts are – – Sandwich Town – Salem City – Springfield City

FAMOUS PEOPLE Eli Whitney was an inventor. He invented the cotton gin. Dr. Seuss was an author and an illustrator. He is best known for the kids story, The Cat in the Hat. John F. Kennedy was a U.S. President. He was the 35th President.

NATURAL RESOURCES Massachusetts has a complex ecosystem of rivers, lakes, estuaries, salt marshes and other habitats for plants, animals and marine life. Glacial stones and boulders such as granite and marble are quarried in the state.

INDUSTRIES Manufacturing of telecommunications equipment, electrical equipment, textiles, shoe making, metal products, fishing and food products. Farming includes dairy, cranberries and poultry.

Harvard Stadium - This is the largest D1 athletic program with 41 sports, tickets are sold for Football, Ice Hockey, Basketball, and Men's Lacrosse. Other sports are free admission. Historic Harvard Stadium (30,323) was built in 1903 and is an engineering marvel, as the world’s first reinforced concrete structure and permanent arena for American college sports.

INTERESTING FACTS The Tabby Cat was made the official state cat in 1988. The Chocolate Chip Cookie was made the official cookie on July 9, 1997. Most common in the state is the Two- Spotted Lady Beetle. The state's cranberry crop is the nation's 2 nd largest (after Wisconsin). The state tree is the American Elm.
