Heat Rises!

The propane burns and fills the balloon with hot air. That hot air rises and rises. It takes the balloon with it. The vents open on the sides to steer the balloon. The panel on the top opens and the balloon comes down.

This shape is great for the warm air to fill the balloon evenly and quickly to steer the balloon using the vents to help the balloon to lower, and deflate, at a steady pace
