2. The Role Within The Industry
The range of applications is large and varied, from a single isolated operation to multiple bridges on a complex site dealing with a wide range of products
A basic operation can simply be weighing vehicles in and out under the guidance of others with no additional tasks preformed
Conversely the role can be complex and varied and often linked with a supervisory function

3. The Current Qualification
MPQC Level 3 Certificate in Weighbridge Operations
Not comparable with other qualifications typically aimed at the level of individual that undertakes them
The qualification only has 4 Mandatory units and Additional units are seldom picked up
The minimum assessment time frame for a Level 3 qualification is 13 weeks

4. The Proposal
The creation of two qualifications that are more appropriate for the range of roles that are undertaken
MPQC Level 2 Diploma in Weighbridge Operations
MPQC Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Weighbridge Operations

5. The Level 2 Diploma
A basic qualification structure of 5 Mandatory units
Utilises the three generic units GEN01, 02, 03
Operate the Weighbridge & Contribute to the Provision of Customer Care
As a Level 2 it is comparable with other qualifications
A credit value of above 36 makes it a Diploma
Minimum assessment time is now 10 weeks

6. Level 3 Diploma
A structure that provides flexibility to apply to broader roles
Again uses the three generic units
A further 3 Mandatory units are required along with 1 Optional unit from a list of 5
The additional tasks undertaken by the Learner to achieve this qualification meet the requirements for a Level 3
The credit value will vary depending on the Optional unit/s selected but in all cases exceeds the requirement for a Diploma

7. Level 3 Mandatory Units All must be completed GEN01, GEN02, GEN03
Operate the Weighbridge
Manage the Movement of Loads
Contribute to the Provision of Customer Care

8. Level 3 Optional Units At least one must be completed
Organise the Transporting of Loads
Direct Vehicle Movements on Site
Maintain Vehicle Crew Compliance
Control the Sale of Stocked Material or Products
Lead the Work of Teams and Individuals

9. Which Qualification
As with all qualifications intended to demonstrate competence you should first establish what the individual undertakes in their role
This should direct you towards one of the qualifications;
MPQC Level 2 Diploma in Weighbridge Operations for basic activities
MPQC Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Weighbridge Operations for more complex activities or where other tasks are undertaken
