Requirements of Life Boundaries - organisms are composed of cells because they require a barrier from environmental changes Responsiveness – organisms react to stimulus in their environment Movement – organisms are mobile to acquire food, escape danger, and reproduce Metabolism – organisms have chemical processes to assimilate nutrients and use energy

Requirements of Life Organization – organisms have distinctly different structures in their bodies Reproduction – organisms transmit their genes Growth – organisms continue to make new cells and adapt to their environment

Requirements of Life Survival needs of the human living system… Nutrients – H 2 O, O 2, C 6 H 12 O 6, etc. Temperature – 98.6° F (36.8° C) Atmospheric Pressure – there has to be enough gravity and molecules for us to breath air
